The Makings of Mighty Oak Trees

Before she was 20 years old, she had successfully run three businesses.

Earlier this week we had the opportunity to speak with Tracy L David of Little Acorn Shave Co. She explained that for over a hundred years, women have been using a man’s razor to shave their bodies. She also described how other beauty products are using subliminal messages to tell women that if they buy their product, then they’ll be beautiful.

She recognized this dilemma and thought of a way she could make a difference.

Altogether, this will be her fifth company, but before she became a successful CEO and Co-Founder, she had to go through a lot of turmoil and disappointment.

She has overcome a traumatic car accident where she was told she would never walk again without a cane. She went through bankruptcy and found herself homeless as a single mother with only $47 to her name.

She claims that although those circumstances were some of the hardest and most painful years of her life, at the same time they were also some of the greatest years of her life. She has used her pain as motivation and she wants you to do the same.

At one point or another, we have all felt small, like a little acorn. Her stories of how to overcome difficult problems was inspiring that we wanted to share it with you. Listen to the video and see if you can apply anything to your own lives. Remember, we are all mighty oak trees.

Embrace Your Emotions

Allow yourself to feel your emotions. Sometimes we want to push off our emotions to pretend that everything is okay. Except, we are only lying to ourselves.

If we don’t validate our emotions, they will only return stronger. So, feel angry. Feel anxious. Then take control. Don’t let your emotions control your success. When you address your emotions, you will learn how to cope when new problems arise. That way if something should happen again, you can be in control and feel more prepared.

There are a lot of things that can be worse. Instead, focus on the things that you want to achieve. There are still things to be grateful for.

Share Your Testimony

Everything we go through, either good or bad, guides us in a direction. Our experiences mold us into who we are and as Tracy said,

“it’s our mess that becomes our message”.

Don’t let things in life hinder your decisions; Instead, use your experiences as motivation. Whether or not we experience success isn't determined by the circumstances that happen to us or even around us, but rather how we respond to those circumstances.

Choose to believe in something different. Use the things that you have gone through as inspiration to succeed. Success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time.

Words of Affirmation

To some extent our thoughts control us. Although, the speech center of our brain has total dominion over every muscle, nerve, and cell in our body. We are controlled by our words. How we talk to ourselves and to others is important. Take inventory of how we talk to ourselves. Stop being so critical. Instead, transform your life through the power of your words.

Talk positively to yourself. As we begin to speak therefor our body must obey and our feelings will catch up. It’s that simple, and soon we will begin to believe exactly what we are saying.

We don’t have to do anything to become who we’re supposed to become. All the things that we already do, happen for us and add on to who we already are. Negative talk, steps in the way of becoming full “oak trees”.

“The smallest of acorns, no matter how tiny, if they are planted in the right soil and nurtured, have the potential to become a mighty oak tree.”

Through the product of a woman’s razor, Tracy and Little Acorn Shave Co are leading by example to encourage one another to speak words of affirmation to one another. Let us build people us and nurture one another along the way so that we can all step into he fullness of becoming mighty oak trees.
